SOUL PROJECT

Who We Are + What We’re About:

Soul Project Dance Company (SPDC), founded and directed by acclaimed choreographer Candace Brown, is a performance-based dance company dedicated to bridging the gap between concert and commercial dance through soulful movement and impactful storytelling. Originally established in New York City, SPDC has built a reputation for producing emotionally compelling, high-quality stage work that explores themes of faith, mental health, and the human experience. The company has successfully presented three sold-out evening-length productions: While We Wait; A Tale of Fallen Fruit (2022), Truth and Beauty (2023), and Shadows (2024), each featuring dynamic storytelling and live musical collaborations. SPDC was awarded a CUNY Dance Initiative grant, as well as a co-production and commission, further solidifying its impact in the dance community. As SPDC expands its presence to Los Angeles, it remains committed to inspiring audiences with movement that resonates deeply—evoking connection, passion, and purpose through the power of dance.
